Shaykh Jamal Ud Deen Hysaw  - Photo courtesy of: Huddersfield Islamic Library Shaykh Jamal ud-Deen originally from Chicago, Illinois, obtained his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Southern Illinois University. In the summer of 1992, he became Muslim and subsequently travelled to Damascus, Syria where he studied Arabic and Islamic Studies at Abu Nur and the University of Damascus for three years.

His thirst for knowledge took him to Dar al-Mustafa in Tarim, Yemen where he studied with the Habaib scholars for another five years. Prominent among his teachers were the Habib Umar bin Muhammad bin Salim bin Hafidh, Habib Ali Zayn al-Abideen al-Jifry.

After completing studies in Syria in Yemen, Shaykh Jamaludeen received permission from his teachers to teach and comment on books of Shafi Fiqh, Aqida, Hadith, Tafsir, and the Sciences of the Heart.

Shaykh Jamal ud-Deen presently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with family where he conducts regular learning programs, study circles, seminars and retreats.
